About the P.S./I.S. 26 Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The P.S./I.S. 26 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an important part of our school community. The PTA brings together parents, guardians, teachers, and school staff to work collaboratively in support of all students at our school.
Our PTA helps strengthen the connection between families and the school while supporting programs, activities, and initiatives that enrich the educational experience of our students. Through events, communication, and volunteer efforts, the PTA works to help create a welcoming and supportive school environment for every family.
What the PTA Does
The PTA works to support the school community in many ways, including:
- Advocating for the needs and well being of students and families
- Sharing important school and PTA information with parents and guardians
- Planning and supporting family events and school activities
- Helping fund programs, resources, and experiences that benefit students and staff
- Encouraging family engagement and volunteer participation within the school community
Membership
In accordance with NYC Department of Education guidelines, every parent or legal guardian of a P.S./I.S. 26 student is automatically a member of the PTA and has the right to vote in PTA elections and meetings.
There are no required membership dues.
Getting Involved
The PTA relies on volunteers and donations to help support events, activities, and initiatives throughout the school year. Family involvement is welcomed and valued, and participation can take many forms, from attending meetings and volunteering at events to helping share information with other families.
When families get involved, our entire school community benefits. We are a small school, with big hearts.
